Hand engraved brass Zippo lighter created as a one-of-one functional sculpture. A watchful leopard portrait fills the front, while deep ornamental scrollwork covers the reverse. Every line, spot, shadow, and transition is cut individually into the metal with traditional engraving tools.

Authentic solid-brass Zippo

This piece begins with an authentic Zippo lighter bearing a 2022 Bradford, Pennsylvania base stamp. The recognizable windproof lighter remains functional while its brass case becomes a permanent surface for traditional hand engraving.

This is not a printed wrap, chemical etch, or shallow decorative marking. The artwork is physically cut into the case, giving it texture, depth, and highlights that change as the brass moves through the light.

Hand-engraved leopard portrait

The front presents a calm, predatory leopard with direct eye contact. Each spot is placed individually, and the shadows are built through controlled lines and cuts rather than reproduced from a mass-production template. The portrait rewards close viewing without losing its impact at carrying distance.

Deep ornamental scrollwork

The reverse uses flowing, old-world scrollwork as a counterpoint to the animal portrait. The pattern is composed around the Zippo case and hinge so the movement belongs to this particular lighter. Recessed and polished areas create contrast across the warm brass surface.
